Consequential Words
I'm growing tired of something within myself and within our culture today. We call ourselves followers of God. We worship Him. We pray to Him. And we demean Him all the time. What do I mean by that last part? There's a growing phrase that I catch myself saying and many people saying more and more frequently, "I hope so". Can I just say this? As a Christian, as someone who has a personal relationship with our Creator, should we be saying that? It seems like when a situation arises and we need to put faith into action, we back out at the last minute. It's kind of like saying, "I'm not confident enough to actually speak some faith into what I'm saying, because I'm not sure if God will actually come through." I'm not jumping on a moral high horse because I do it too and I'm having to catch myself. But of all the people on earth that shouldn't have to hope for something, shouldn't it be us? I like what the Word says, "Yet we have the same spirit of faith as he had who wrote, I have believed, and therefore have I spoken. We too believe, and therefore we speak". 2 Corinthians 4: 13 Okay let's look at that for a second. Did you catch the last line? We believe, and then we speak. That's the order and that is what we are called to do. We don't speak with, "I hope so". We speak with a belief inside of us not because of anything we've done but because of who we serve! Or how about this? "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me." Galatians 2: 20 When we speak, we don't speak on our own accord but through the power of Christ who lives in us. And if I speak with the power of our Lord, then I'm not hoping for anything. I'm speaking faith! There is a reason why we are called FAITH Chapel. So let's practice this together church! Let's watch what we say and start to introduce some faith into our words!
